I haven’t seen this film since it came out. All I remember is being afraid to go to the bathroom at home. Despite the bathroom being on the second floor of my home in the sprawling metrolopolis of Toronto.

This was/is my favorite “Bigfoot” movie of all time. That scene with the boy running to get home before it got dark, the sun bloated on the horizon, the urgent music, the strange shapes in the woods. Iconic.

I also happen to really LIKE that song, both of them songs, the one on the lonely monster and the one about Travis Crabtree. Of course I like to sing the Ballad of Jesse James and Joe Bowers and other songs too. I’m just that way.

Pierce did some other films my family liked to watch back in the early 70s, mostly outdoors and wildlife flicks. Good, optimistic, family shows. Maybe he was no John Ford or Alfred Hitchcock, but he was a damn fine Charles Pierce. He will be missed.

This is the greatest telling of the Creature ever. I love this film.
