Posted by: Loren Coleman on February 2nd, 2011

Can you believe this winter?

I never was sure what Groundhog’s Day had to do with these reports, but curiously, there is word of a Bigfoot from the 1940s here too. Image.

Pterodactyl Causes Car Crash

Posted by: Loren Coleman on December 29th, 2007

The Pteranodon replica produced by the Papo company of France. Giant flying reptiles, believe it or not, have routinely been sighted in the Olympic National Park’s rainforest in Washington State. I’ve been hearing about reports from there for decades. Now comes an intriguing, if unbelievable, account from the same area. First, here are some quick […]

Small Pterodactyls Among The Indians

Posted by: Loren Coleman on October 7th, 2007

You would think the recent baseball game between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians had a chapter in it snatched straight from a cryptozoological book. During the game, insects bothered, to no end, the infielders and pitcher Joba Chamberlain for the Yankees, but less so, it seems the Indians. The bugs remain cryptid. […]

I was just tipped off to this video. Is it real, or is it hoaxed? Watch the video here on Cryptomundo and judge for yourself! I have included the text that accompanied the video on youtube, however, this will NOT be about discussion of that ideology. Correction: Instead of ideology, I should have gone ahead […]

Exploring American Monsters: Hawaii

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on July 21st, 2015

Hawaii is, well, it’s Hawaii. A series of islands in the Central Pacific with more gorgeous beaches, cliffs, waterfalls, volcanoes, and girls in bikinis than it knows what to do with. Apart from its geography, and lush tropical vegetation, Hawaii is famous for its love of Spam, the late singer Don Ho, the lei, and the luau. Europeans discovered the islands on 18 January 1778 when English explorer Captain James Cook landed on one of the sandy beaches. Cook was killed by islanders on Valentine’s Day the next year for being a jerk (attempting to kidnap the king will get you that short-lived reputation). Shark attacks occur on Hawaiian shores, although in 2014, only three out of eight million visitors were attacked by a shark. Hawaiians have more to fear by Axis deer wandering into the roadway than being bitten by a shark. Although Hawaii is the one state in the Union that has no reports of Bigfoot, there are still plenty of creepy, crawly monsters to go around.

Huge Prehistoric-Like Bird Observed

Posted by: Nick Redfern on November 5th, 2014

There has been a long history of giant bird sightings in Pennsylvania. The term “Thunderbird” has been used to describe these generally very large, normally black or dark brown birds with massive wingspans. Not all of the descriptions of these flying cryptids however are the same. Some witnesses I have Interviewed in past years have stated that what they saw looked more like a giant bat.

Others reluctantly told me what they observed looked more prehistoric and similar to a pterodactyl or teratorn. More than one person told me that the huge flying creature they saw could only be described as a dragon. And yes, some who have witnessed these creatures have hesitantly used the term gargoyle.

The Deadly Dodu of Cameroon – A Belligerent Grub-Eating Bigfoot?

Posted by: Karl Shuker on July 27th, 2014

Veteran cryptozoological explorer Bill Gibbons has searched for a number of notable mystery beasts in the field over the years, such as the Congo’s mokele-mbembe and emela-ntouka. He has also brought several hitherto-obscure examples to widespread cryptozoological attention, including Nepal’s crocodile-jawed limbless ‘dragons’, the New Guinea pterodactyl-like ropen, and the giant Congolese spider or j’ba fofi.
