Poetics:

When I can, I will. Sometimes, however, it's tricky. For example, one of the sites I write for is Mysterious Universe, and they specifically allow only the first two paragraphs to be reproduced from a linked article. Anything else requires written permission. And that's fair, as it's their site and they make the rules on what's ok and what isn't.

It's the same for a number of other sites I write for, and it's particularly so for many major media news sites.

That's why I often limit the word-count, and why I often illustrate my articles/links with old, out of copyright images. Maybe it's because I'm a writer myself, but I see far too much of copy-pasting people's work which goes way beyond acceptable levels within the publishing industry, whether in terms of using text or images, and without even bothering to get permission or even checking if it's needed from the relevant writer.

It would be great if you could provide more of an article before making us follow a link to another site. I almost never follow it because continually loading new pages gets repetitive and boring- all this jumping around is like trying to have too many conversations at once. Thanks!
