Insured Against Nessie Attack

The legendary Loch Ness Monster might have turned 80 this week, but one overly cautious cruise company isn’t convinced that she’s any less of a threat. While “Nessie” hasn’t reportedly harmed a soul—or ship—to date (or actually been proved to exist, for that matter), Scottish cruise line Jacobite Cruises isn’t taking any chances.

War of the Gargantuas

‘War of the Gargantuas’ (1966) is a perennial fave for late-night t.v. addicts from the 1970s, where it played in heavy rotation courtesy of Henry Saperstein’s importing of Toho efforts when no one else was interested. Though often poorly dubbed owing to Saperstein’s limited budgets, at least these films were shown theatrically and then on to television as a result of his efforts.

The Van Meter Visitor

For several nights in 1903, the small town of Van Meter, Iowa was terrorized by a giant bat-like creature that emerged from an old abandoned mine.

The identity of this mysterious monster has never been discovered, but over 100 years later a new book is retelling the amazing tale and hoping to shed some light on what happened all those years ago.

Boy, the description sure sounds like the Jersey Devil to me…
