Remembering Scott Norman

Posted by: John Kirk on March 1st, 2008

Scott and I had been friends for 10 years and as Loren has written, we were part of an expedition together to Cameroon in search of Mokele-mbembe. It was on this expedition that I obtained the measure of the man that Scott Norman was.

Morag: The Cryptid of Loch Morar

Posted by: John Kirk on May 24th, 2007

Morag, as the cryptid is called, was actually shot at in 1969 by two men named McDonnell and Simpson, but it appeared to have survived that confrontation as it has been seen since. Recent sightings are few and far between and that is not surprising as Morar is in the middle of nowhere. From Fort William you have to drive west past Glenfinnan and the monument to the rising of the Jacobites in support of Prince Charles Edward Stuart in 1745. Just across from the monument is the elevated railway bridge that you see in all the Harry Potter movies and to the south is Loch Shiel which is the home Shielag, yet another Scottish Lake cryptid which has been seen even recently.

Reminder: Bigfoot’s Reflection On Canadian TV Tonight

Posted by: John Kirk on May 23rd, 2007

This is a reminder to all Canadian Cryptomundo readers that the Bunbury Films production on the mystery hairy hominid entitled Bigfoot’s Reflection will air tonight for one hour on Space Channel at 9p.m. I could not make any sense of whether is 9 p.m. in each region, but that’s what it looks like to […]

British Columbia Sasquatch Sighting Near Cranbrook

Posted by: John Kirk on May 7th, 2007

As the distance closed the snowplough driver was now better able to see that this individual was oddly shaped; very large with arms that reached nearly to its knees, a conical head and what he had initially thought to be a light golden brown parka was instead hair.

Wild and Woolly Turkish Video Depicts Lake Van Cryptid

Posted by: John Kirk on May 7th, 2007

I have to say that it was mind blowing to watch what appears to be a movie prop monster cruising the lake as well as appearing to eat a diver. There is some great scenery depicted in the video, interviews with witnesses and some footage which appears to show the actual animal that is causing all the excitement at this lake in Eastern Turkey.

Posted by: John Kirk on April 28th, 2007

The annual Cadborosaurus season is about to move into high gear. Operation Caddyscan is a Cadborosaurus research group comprising Jason Walton, Dr. Ed Bousfield, Dr. Paul Leblond and myself. We have been in existence since 1998 and the focus of this group is solely the marine megaserpent of British Columbia and adjacent coastal waters known as Cadborosaurus.

Update: B.C. Sasquatch Occurrence at Golden Ears Park

Posted by: John Kirk on April 26th, 2007

Awhile back, I wrote about possible footprints of a sasquatch being discovered in Golden Ears Provincial Park about an hour’s drive from Vancouver. The reaction from Cryptomundo readers was mixed. Some thought the prints were likely those of a jogger while other thought they might have been made by a sasquatch.

Comments on New Loch Ness Search Tool

Posted by: John Kirk on April 23rd, 2007

The use of sonar at Loch Ness is actually nothing new. Various fishing boats, the Rines teams and other cruise companies have employed sonar at Loch Ness. The largest single deployment of sonar was the Operation Deepscan search in 1987 where over 20 cabin cruisers threw a sonar curtain over the loch and some interesting readings were recorded.

Update Supposed Tofino Hominoid Video

Posted by: John Kirk on March 29th, 2007

My doubts about this footage having been growing by the minute since I sent the videographer an email two days ago. I have heard nothing back from him despite his pronouncements in the media that he was going to send the footage to an organization with a name very similar to mine for “expert advice”.
