They called themselves the “Mangani.” Of course, the late Burroughs simply created the Mangani because he knew very little about primates in general, but still pretty interesting.

Similarly interesting is the late author P.J. Famer’s Wold Newton theory about Tarzan and other great characters from pulp fiction, but that’s a whole other blog post…
