Sorry John! After re-reading my first post I can see how you got the impression that I didn’t believe your story or had problems with it. That first sentence of mine gave the wrong tenor to my post. I do believe the story, just thought there may have been more to it by your dads reaction.

No I was not thinking that he was pulling a stunt on you, I thought that maybe he had seen what had made the foot prints thats all. I’m sure he’s a good strong man of very admirable character. And a sighting of a Sasquatch would be more unnerving than foot prints in the snow. There’s no intention to question anyone’s character.

There is nothing more to this story than my father has aleady related to me. If your inference is that he was pulling something on me, that is out of the question. My father is a staid Brit and not given to pulling stunts.

In those days my Dad used to smoke and it was not uncommon for him to want to step outside the house to do so. That might have been his reason for looking out there, but I do not exactly remember why he did so. Also, there was a security light on the outside of the house which was on as there is a concrete slab which doubles as an outdoor patio in the summer if needed.

I could see the footprints by the outdoor light as soon as I got to the sliding doors.

As for my father’s face being as white as a sheet, I would think anyone who has seen 18″ prints in the snow outside their kitchen door would be shocked. My father was shocked and I wished I had looked at my face in a mirror when I saw those tracks myself.

I hope this helps you get to grips with the events of that memorable Christmas Eve.

I don’t know what to make of this story. I can’t understand why your father’s face would be white as a sheet because of foot prints. Is there possibly more to this story than he has told you? Around 6 p.m. Christmas Eve it would have been very dark outside unless there was an outdoor light how did he notice the prints? What caused him to look outside?
