All cryptozoologists, I think, will always have a soft spot for the Lake Heuvelmans episode, even if the monster’s normal diet of frogs seemed very inadequate.

It will be great to see Mulder and Scully at it again. It’s too bad that Doggett, Skinner and Reyes won’t be in the movie. Maybe they’ll do cameos. The alien mythology story had gotten old but I think some folks missed the point that Carter was trying to make. The Paranormal including Cryptozoology and Parapolitical aren’t necessarily separate or unrelated. The sightings of Bigfoot and other mysterious creatures often occur in areas known for ghosts, ufo’s and other unusual activity. The Big Thicket area in Texas is very well known for all sorts of strange activity not just Bigfoot. Carter tried to very hard to show the link in Season 1&2 but only a few of the hardcore fans caught on to what he was trying to say. I can’t recall the episode but I remember one of the first episodes mentioning the Shadow gov’t years before Dick Cheney acknowledged its existence. My favorite creature episode was actually Doggett’s batboy episode.

Because nothing says “I care” more than good old-fashioned studio interference. X-Files: File Harder With A Vengeance, anyone? *slaps forehead*

Actually, I’m really looking forward to this. Though for me, the series officially ended when Fox was reunited with a spectral Samantha on that hilltop to the heartbreaking sound of Moby’s “My Weakness”. I wept openly, and aren’t ashamed to admit it.

Wow, I am sooo excited! The X-Files is one of my all time favorite shows. I am going to see this on the big screen for sure! I am only glad that they got the original actors as well as Chris Carter. Although the last season was okay, after you change the original format to a great show, it just isn’t so great any more. My favorite episode was the one with the flesh eating bugs in the woods I think it was season one or two and it was called Darkness Falls.

Never was a huge fan of the X-FIles but I am looking forward to the movie.

I agreed with your assessment of Duchovny until I saw CALIFORNICATION on HBO. Check it out. It might change your mind.

I DO think he is SO identified with the character of FOX MULDER that some people will see him in nothing else.
Unfortunately.

He WAS kind of fun in EVOLUTION, though.

True, unfortunately. Still, they could’ve tried. Another show into the paranormal, Psi-factor, managed to have more balanced episodes, basically covering a lot of creatures and phenomena. It did only last for 4 seasons and it’s not as well known as X-Files, but it’s really quite good.

Certainly. I loved the first few seasons. One of my favourites was the PNW set episode with the glowing bugs killing off the loggers in the Olympic National Park. Another favourite was the Indian Werewolf episode.

As so often happens (eireman also mentioned Lost, which I also got tired of) good things never last, sadly.

Agreed. The first few seasons of the X-files were great, featuring a lot of the well known (and some less known) ‘’monsters'’ out there. The continious alien-thread became a bit of a drag.
