hi all,
Well, Im a Kiwi and I havent heard anything about Mysterious Planet as yet. I guess he's keeping it hush. However, New Zealand does have a very annoying and frustrating habit of dishing out tax payer funded grants to pretty much everyone and anyone for the most ridiculous things, so sending this talentless and embarassing self proclaimed 'comedian' on a nice getaway trip to take the piss out of people, sounds about right for this country.
We have very low standards here I'm afraid.
It really wouldnt be so bad if he was just upfront about it all and said that it was a sarcastic, yet lighthearted look at the subject, and promoted it as humour, satire and comedy. I cerainly dont have any problem with a comical doco about bigfoot, theres no reason why the subject has to be only serious, moody and academic.
Just as long as the producers of that doco stick with the facts and the evidence at hand and treat everyone with the respect and courtesy they deserve.

No, tropicalwolf, this is not about his ego or more attention, but awareness, so those whom he wishes to fool and ridicule will be alerted to his presence and tactics in their 'hoods. Those are the people I am hoping will read this, of course.

"...the fact that it is also the home of many more tangible beasts such as grizzly bears,..."

Hmmm. WAS also the home of grizzly bears. Although it has been estimated that there were once as many as 10,000 of them living in California, their conspicuous absence for nearly a century now is not exactly news. I guess it isn't necessary for the host to do much research before embarking on such a tongue in cheek program as this one apparently is. The California subspecies of the brown bear (a.k.a. grizzly bear), Ursus arctos californicus, has been gone for 80 years or more. Except, that is, for its likeness, which has is used as a California state emblem in various contexts, including on the State flag.

I hope he doesn't expect to see any passenger pigeons.

haha Jeremy_Wells I was going to say the same thing! I don't think that he has to worry about it happening to him in the Californian woods though, one would like to think even Sasquatch have standards.

"some very stupid and possibly inbred people"?

I suspect the only truly stupid and inbred people are those who allocated $396,000 to this chucklehead to bring world-wide embarrassment to the New Zealanders.

What a tool. I am sure there are a lot of sane and honest Kiwis who are as embarrassed as we are about having to share the planet with this clown.

Well, I for one am waiting for this Kiwi's findings with bated breath. (I may actually buy a TV.)

I mean, look up there. He's found not only inbred people (sasquatch???????????????????) but grizzly bears, in CALIFORNIA no less. (The bears were hiding on the STATE FLAG. Who knew?)

What else might The Intrepid Baldy find? (Do they call that the Radford Do?) He's even found a new way of spelling Big Foot!
