kinda reminds me of the X-Files where he is looking for a dino, but finds an alligator instead. I'd say Lake Placid, but I found that one to be too funny (mainly because of its allstar cast). So we believe it to be a snake, yeah! Pop open the Champagne! I'm sorry, but unless this thing is absolutely huge...I can't exactly get excited. Besides, being a man made lake, there is very little possibility that this thing is anything more than just a snake looking for easy eats.

I have to agree it is most likely an exotic pet snake that got to large for it owners to handle.

Just how big is "big" here? A really big Northern Water Snake will get to 40+ inches, but they are so chunky, they actually look even bigger. A Diamondback can hit 50+ inches. For people not used to seeing large snakes of any type, they can easily seem to be of almost supernatural proportions. Think fishermen - that's why they invented Deliars!

It probably is a yellow phase Burmese Python or maybe even a Yellow Anaconda (considerably smaller than the Green Anaconda). They turn up all the time in Florida and occasionally elsewhere. If it is a tropical exotic, once the temperature stays at 60 degrees or below for an extended period of time, it is a goner.

I'd have to agree with planettom in that it is more likely than not a released exotic pet. The first thing that came to my mind when they mentioned a large yellow snake was a yellow-albino burmese python. They are excellent swimmers, so it's not unlikely that one could survive in the lake habitat. Of course, most burmese pythons prefer to live in underbrush on land, so it's not really a big surprise they haven't been able to find it in the lake since...

So I scoured the internet and found no picture, but found several other news clips about the same story. Fun story, but not picture out yet. Let's hope that someone gets another picture and posts it somewhere, maybe here on cryptomundo! My guess is that it (the snake) is a released or escaped exotic. But who knows! Let's hope for a pic to come out soon.

Hard to speculate on without seeing the photo myself. Anyway to post it here? I'd be willing to say that there is a reasonably good chance that it is an exotic snake of some sort released into the lake just because it hasn't been seen by many and the sighting is so recent. I'd think a long time resident cryptid snake would have been seen more frequently over a long period of time, so in my opinion it could very well be an exotic that was recently released. Of course it could also be a species that somehow made its way into the lake, but I am hesitant to say what it could be without seeing any photo. Who knows, maybe it's just a hoax? Photo please!

Unless i missed it, no size estimations have been given aside from "large". That annoys me a bit. How "large" is a large snake usually?
