Loren- Don’t know how many of us there out there who remember, but Slick was one of the great ones on our business, as you know.
Bringing up his name reminds me of one of my better finds on the internet. After perusing Peter Byrne’s copy of Slick’s book- signed to him, no less- I decided I’d look online to see if there were any available. Just for laughs I punched in, “1st edition, hardcover, signed”, not expecting anything to come up. There it was, just one available, and I jumped on it, of course. When it arrived I checked the signature, which matched the one in Byrne’s book. And it was a first, in nearly new condition. Oh yeah, the price? $10.00.

GREAT post Loren! I’m a fan of Mid Century Modern… I had seen photo’s of the house designed by Ford, but didn’t realize that Tom Slick was the owner. For those who don’t know what Mid Century Modern is, just think about Frank Sinatra and the “Rat Pack”… or a “Brady Bunch” house. VERY modern for the 50′s and 60′s, still considered “modern” for the 21st Century. Your post makes me want to buy your book on Tom Slick!

Tom Slick and the Search for the Yeti is my favorite Crypto-book. Read it about 15 years ago, and I still think about it from time to time. It didn’t occur to me until recently that you were the author, Loren. Well done. I’ve said many times that it should be adapted for film.
