This geographic nameplace data is interesting and something I sutmbled on early. A reminder of how many have had similar expereinces and are forced into the "research." I also came across a claim that the use of the term "devil" for so many landscape features here in the west may also have roots tied to Bigfoot. I don't know, I always assumed those were named for the harshness of the topography, rather than events... but there are some interesting ones, and one in particular at the Bigfoot active site I spent so much time at. I also notice some of these older placenames are dissapearring from USGS maps (as ruins and some other features have over the years). I have moved to NorCal and begiinning my explorations here and am drawn to an area just east of the Ishi Wilderness called "the Devil's Parade Ground." No clue as to why, but thought that one was odd....Devils' Chasm and so on seem to make sense..but a Parade Ground? I imagine the use of tern Devil in our naming is not so tied to Sasquatch, but I don't know.
