“Secret Saturdays,” the new kid’s cartoon television series by friend of Cryptomundo Jay Stephens is having sneak peeks from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM Eastern on Labor Day, September 1st, 2008.
You may read more about the program here and here.
The following is a little preview of the cartoon:
The following rather raw footage may be virtual marketing or is there a grassroots effort to really discover more about this cartoon series? Interesting.

its just viral marketing, vc argost host of wierd world is the villian in secret sturdays, the raw footage is from the wierd world show.
As far as grassroots interest anywhere along that theme line, I recall that the Johnny Quest Saturday morning childrens cartoon series of nearly 40 years back was also one of the most popular at the time.
Those over 40 may recall it featured a straight forward non-fantastical presentation of occassional cryptozoological sub-themes and villanous characters. Never checked to see if it still airs in re-runs. You’d think a children’s cartoon presented “realistically” with 13 year olds picking up rifles and handguns to fight the bad guys would be Politically Incorrect in certain quarters nowadays.
Thanks, Loren. Quick disclaimer… the Secret Saturdays is a cartoon. It emphasizes entertainment over educational value, so please don’t expect too much ‘authenticity’ (which raises a good question; is anything considered ‘cannon’ in cryptozoology? Is everything undiscovered and unproven still up for debate? Or are there some cryptids that are considered ‘solved’ even without evidence at hand?). We designed our versions of certain cryptids for maximum animated thrills, and a few could even be considered radical depictions. But the names and locations of these legendary beasts are accurate, hopefully inspiring a new generation of kids to explore the facts on record.
Jay, the show looks great and the animation is top notch (I think even Cartoon Brew’s Amid Amidi would be impressed, although the fact your animation is 2D already gives you a couple of points in HIS book! LOL).
Congratulations and the best of luck for your show (Maybe you could have a couple of REAL cryptozoologists as occasional special guests? *wink wink*?)
Jay: I’m impressed you are someone that actually remembers the Cameroon flashlight frog and Hibagon. It looks like you are taking a Primeval route on televising things that are less heavy-handed in the media, only in a cryptid light. I like that.
