First, how far back do you go to find examples of the coverup? Has the government always been behind the fake reports, photos, tracks, videos, etc.?

Second, it begs the question of how you distinguish between government sponsored coverups and the actions of various “civilian” a**holes, con men, charlatans, etc. who have been hoaxing reports of sightings, tracks, audio/video recordings, on-going contacts, bodies in coolers, shootings, and so on, for decades?

I say, no need for the government to step-in here. I think there are (and always have been/always will be) more than enough garden-variety idiots out for publicity and/or financial gain to explain the hoaxes which continue to plague the legitimate research into the existence of Sasquatch and other cryptids.

Finally, as far as Dr. Ketchum’s DNA results are concerned, when (if?) they come out, they will stand on their own merits – or, fall for lack thereof.

Call me crazy, but please just listen to this idea. Most of us who have studied this animal know that if you believe in bigfoot, you have to believe in a cover up. Obviously the government has known about this for a very long time and any number of parks people, DNR, cops, etc will tell you that and that they have been told not to talk. So let’s just say for theory that the government has been watching things with Ketchum and they realize that she has solid science behind her study and that they can’t really interfere due to the large number of people involved and the public nature of this. Granted they could come in and take everything but that would for sure get them in the news. So what way would be best to try and make people disregard this DNA evidence when it comes out? Well, here is where I may be overthinking things. Is it possible that the government wanted this Russian hoax to occur, that they knew of the yeti finger all along, and allowed it to be rediscovered and tested. That way we have been hit, twice in the last few weeks with two different bigfoot hoaxes, or let’s say disappointments. Is it possible that this is intentional and that this would be a counter action to try and get people so sick of seeing hoaxes that when real evidence comes out that they wont believe it.

I admit that’s a little farfetched at the moment and I’m sure my overall disgust at the government for covering this up is biasing me a little. We shall see how things turn up. But I’m calling it here and now that if over the next months, or until the Ketchum study comes out, if it does come out, that if we see more and more bigfoot stuff hit the news that turns out to be hoaxes that there is definitely something strange going on. Hopefully there won’t be anymore until the study comes out. But if we keep getting this crappy misinformation and hoax crap coming in constantly then surely this is being done on purpose. Crazy idea I know, but just throwing it out there.
