I wanted to like the book more than I did. It is, as Nick says, the best treatment of the subject (really the only one), and he's right in commending Loren and Mark for having the nerve to face it head-on. And the authors are upfront about the animal posing some physiological difficulties (there's a reason humans never reach nine feet and healthy humans never reach eight feet). But even considering that we know little of Gigantopithecus, accepting its evolution into a primate as tall as a giraffe demands much better evidence than even Loren and Mark, prodigious researchers though they are, can bring to bear here. Any sort of True Giant seems a much greater reach than sasquatch.
