Well, the notion that the Teotihuacans conquered the Mayans and had a huge influence in the southeast part of Mexico since the Classic period, is now part of mainstream archeology. So I guess that is mainly due to Mr. Rands's work.

Descanse en Paz.

PS: Carajo, I've never been to Chichen Itza or Palenque :-/

Back in the early 1970s my colleague, Edward Casey of Baltimore, Maryland Dept. of Transit & Traffic talked about knowing Robert Rands & his extensive knowledge on Chichen Itza & Mayan Civilization.

Casey was a student of Mayan & Aztec History & Mysteries. From April 1970 till July 1975, he spent 2-3 weeks of annual vacation traveling to and roaming Yacatan Ancient Civilization's Sites and one time, became 'lost' for several days in the Yacatan Jungle.

Casey died unexpectedly at age 30 in August 1975.
