It seems that supplicants in many religious and other heirarchical cultures practice the act of lying prostrate, grovelling, sweeping bows, saluting, curtseys, and a wide range of other conspicuous displays to such a degree perhaps it is the result of an underlying instinctual behavior that would stretch across affiliated species as a result of our evolutionary selection and would certainly be a form of communications.
