When I read the officer's account about seeing the dogs running back scared, I had to laugh. I've been hunting before when my dog was hot on the trail of a buck. I was running as fast as possible, only being able to catch glimpses of my dog now and again, when my dog came running back right at me. His tail was between his legs and he was yelping up a storm. He was so frightened, he didn't see me. If I wasn't already in mid-jump over a log we would have collided. I only took me a second to realize the buck had enough and was now in attack mode. So, rule of thumb, when dogs run, it might be a good idea to get somewhere safe. I will say though that this is typical of dog vs. big foot stories. I read of one in Washington, I believe, where something was climbing the metal telephone poles ( the ones used when distance is needed). Animal control was called in. Thinking they had a bear (like they can climb those), they brought in specially trained bear hunting dogs. The dogs were released and they went full throttle into the area, and then returned quickly, scared. I do hope for the best out there.

Does anyone have the phone number to the tribal police or e-mail? Someone should contact them for a short interview and post the findings here. Perhaps if the interview was done gently, we would learn more?

This rash of sightings in the Pine Ridge area are certainly interesting. Perhaps the reason for so many recent sightings can be directly attributed to the Pow Wow activities going on now. The more folks in the area, the more eyes to see. Knowing the reverence with which Sasquatch is held by First Nation poeples, he more than likely feels a certain comfort level in his movements, and therefore folks have a better than average opportunity to see him, with him not feeling threatened. All the controversy about the BFRO aside, I am hopefull that a seasoned investigator such as Mr. Petti will have luck in bringing forth some great substancial evidence one way or the other about the recent activities. Any time we can get a person with experience and background in such an area of fresh sightings we all reap the rewards. Good luck to you Mr. Petti. I hope he and the BFRO will keep us all informed of any results, fruitful or not.

Big Foot or this being is there at Pine Ridge. I was in Kyle during a time of draught five years ago. I taught at a private school and lived there for 40 days. The children told me about this hairy creature. A grandfather of one of them said he peered at him from behind some bushes. Both were equaly startled. Why would anyone want to kill this harmless creature who and his kin have lived in the hills for a long time according to locals? There are other tales as well. The little people who live in the Black Hills and who came to help the Lakota. There is a sacred site and petroglyphs. The mother of one of the children told me about a ship which hovered over Kyle more than ten years ago. It was the size of a football field and was apparently in trouble. Saucer shaped vehicles raced around as vapor was emitted from what I surmised was the "mother ship". The story was verified by other residents and photos are available at the local police station. In the fall of the year fleets of space ships fly over Pine Ridge. So if "Big Foot" lives there, leave him and his family alone. The people at Pine Ridge are the poorest in our country. They call it the "Government Jail."

Maybe the pow wow has some how perked bigfoot's curiousity. Could be that the big guy likes pow wow's. He may like it just as much as the native americans.

While I would never want to be the one behind the gun, I think most of us would be pleased if a body came our way somehow. BUT, I for one hope that this situation is NOT the one that gives it to us. These people have been through enough already without having someone kill a sacred figure in their belief system on what little land remains theirs and then cart it off like so much meat to be poked and prodded.

Any researcher needs to be both mindful and respectful of the beliefs of the locals, be they Native Americans, urbanites, rural farmers, nature-lovers, believers, skeptics, or your so-called gun-toting rednecks. It pays to work with them, rather than against them.

Sounds like these folks should've got a real good look at the big guy. Hope a full description will be forthcoming. Assuming it wasn't a prank/hoax.

Bigfoot seems pretty comfortable roaming around these parts it seems. When my dog "franky" was in his prime the only 2 things he was afraid of was the vacuum cleaner and the back tire of my Mom's car, (she ran over his tail once). I've never heard of police dogs being scared.

I agree! If this were a one-time sighting, a hoax it could be. But multiple sightings over several days? The person in the monkey suit would have to be very bold, knowing police, possible firearms and dogs are involved! Why my pitts are fearless and would chew that suit right off and more! And also, not to get out of the way of a car? Very interesting indeed.

Perhaps this is the real thing? But then again, could it be a collective publicity stunt for the Pow Wow and Nation? I hope not. It will be interesting to hear what the tribal police will have to say. And are there any footprints? Sure wish I had time to go there with video gear!
