Ditto to everything "Pitch Black Moon" said. I've lived in the Finger Lakes all my life, and grew up only 3 miles from Owasco Lake. I've never heard of any of this, and have certainly never seen anything.

I lived in Auburn almost all of my life. My parent's house is about 1.5 miles from the lake. My grandparents owned a camp about halfway down the east side, and I spent many summers living there. I've been out on boats all over that lake, gone swimming, tubing, water skiing, and fishing. I've even walked the width of the lake when it was frozen.

In short, I've spent hundreds and hundreds of hours in, on, and around that lake, and not only have I never seen anything strange; but no one I know has either.

If there was ever anything there, it's gone now.
