Just for comparison some skull photos: 1) American badger (would also explain the long front claws); 2) Racoon; and 3) Pitbull Skull (note the high front not seen in the carcass).

Strange how no one made mention of the restraint cord around the thing front legs or claws; if it’s a hoax then they have covered all bases but if it’s real then it escaped from somwhere; what was the name of the nearest island again? Don’t they do animal testing? That is a pretty thick cord.

By the looks of the claws it looks like a tree sloth of some kind thats been in the water a while. The fur has come off ans the flesh on the snout has rotted away.

Why is there only one photo of this thing?! If it washed ashore and was dead why in the world didn’t someone take a lot of pictures of it to see if someone could indentify it…..seems a little fishy to me?!

100% certain: Domestic Canine

Note the tuft of hair beneath the neck. The skin discoloration/appearance is consistent with the corpse having been water-borne, with slight marine preditation, and then deposited on the beach and exposed to sunlight.

The only other option would be my mother-in-law, and I just got off the phone with her………dammit.

I still think a badger would be a good candidate. They are thicksat and with a stocky hindquater, and their forelegs are comparably long.

Enlarged and adjusted in photoshop, there is clearly a tail. As mentioned, the front paws are tied together with a strip of cloth and the “beak” is a protruding maxilla. Also the white area near the top of the head is an ear that appears to have been cut near the base. There is a collar around the neck which appears to have been – badly – photoshopped out where it would be most evident: the buckle is still visible under the jaw. The body has probably been in the water long enough for the hair to slough off, but it’s pretty obviously a dog carcass.
