Sherwood: "Gray Barker, whose influence on Keel’s book was palpably self-serving-and documentable.”

Loren, what does that even MEAN?

Re: the Gere film itself - when I first heard about it, I thought, "Oh, god, no!", especially when I heard about all the 'distortion' of Keel's work.

When, out of boredom, I watched it a few years after its original release, I was surprised how well it caught the waking nightmare feel of this sort of stuff, how the more you try to rationalize it away the harder it comes after you, until you reach the stage where you realise the only way to survive it without going completely off your rocker, (or, in the cases of a number of young people friends and family members've told me about, committing or trying to commit suicide), is simply to suspend judgement and treat it somewhat like being caught, say, in a periodically recurring thunderstorm, earthquake or tsunami.

The sort of people who expend all their energy thinking if only they can understand how thunderstorms, earthquakes and tsunamis work, (even as all manner of mayhem's being unleashed all around them), it'll somehow give them control over the phenomena're precisely the sort of people who don't survive such catastrophic outbreaks.

Aim for a calm and relaxed attitude, no matter what happens - but don't stress if you feel anything but calm and relaxed, because that's okay, too.

Above all, NEVER take it personally, no matter how personal it SEEMS to get.

I mention all this because I've just been reading about John Ventre's daughter and I admit to being slightly concerned for her welfare.

I thought the movie was great for what it was meant to be. It's a shame that with all the good stuff out there, that it's always the wrong, misinformed, or just downright silly stuff that gets brought back to life.

On a side note, I will be visiting Point Pleasent in July. I am so excited!! I plan on checking out the sites of some of the sightings, and the Mothman Museum. Loren, if you have any suggestions for spots to see, please let me know. Also, if there are any areas that you would like photos of, for the Museum, I would be happy to do what I can. Also, any items that I might find in the Mothman Museum that would make a good addition to your museum.
