Brenna - With all due respect, while common species of muntjacs may have established limited (escapee) populations in some locales, what is being discussed here is Sumatran muntjac (Muntiacus montanus).

Extinct? I don’t think so. Those guys are all over the place in the south of England. I have pictures. I have seen many on our property and have watched them for hours. They’re a bit strange looking but if you do a web search you will find them easily. Over here they call them Chinese water deer. Anyway, I have about 5 or 6 pictures if anyone is interested.

I believe Martyr also recently discovered a new species of leopard…Correct me if I am wrong about that…. But if that is true, we should really get this chick out to the pacific northwest…I would be willing to bet she finds Bigfoot.

I note that NOT ONE of the people interviewed mentioned searching for ways to stop the laying of snares and hunting of these rare animals.

This incredible story gives me renewed optimism that Australia’s thylacine, which like this deer was also believed to have gone extinct in the 1930s, may still survive into the present. I hope that we will soon be reading here also of its rediscovery.
