I like this idea a lot. I know for Ogopogo they have the Canadian organization with John Kirk (BCSCC), so how do we go about setting up such a beast?

Get a website kind of like what the BFRO has in place and then start waiting for people to write in and start databasing? Is there someone already working on this?

I guess this thread raises more questions than answers...inquiring minds want to know:) I would definitely be willing to throw a lot of time toward something like this!

I agree with Richard88. This sort of system could work very well with land cryptids as well, and using these methods for sasquatch was the first thing that popped into my mind when I read this.

The only problem is that since sasquatch is not a recognized species, there is no species database for it per say. That could be alleviated by just having a quality controlled (with agreed upon standards and criteria), viable, universal database and network for all things sasquatch (or any other cryptid), rather than scattered sightings databases. A concerted effort to definitively collect, categorize, and coordinate locations and conditions of sightings and evidence could potentially yield a treasure trove of interesting information about these creatures.

This marine sightings system could be indispensable for marine cryptids, and a good model for things to come with land based cryptids as well.

If this model can work for marine cryptids then why not for Bigfoot? "Then analysis and cooperation between researchers and eyewitnesses could begin to take hold."
