Ceroill, I have run the beginings of these shows in slow motion and nothing is said about damatizations, names being changed, or stories being fiction. It does say "story", but not fictional story. There are also no credits on the show saying who is playing what characters. This makes it look like ANIMAL PLANET is holding out these tapes to be Authentic.

jasper, that's because they are not documentaries or re-enactments of particular events. They are dramatizations loosely based on collections of reports. They are fiction. It says so at the beginning of the show.

I definitely have to agree with PA-dave. I ca'nt find a single reference to these events on the web anywhere. I was looking for the ATV race from the Death Worm show. I couldn't even find a race with that name much less any news that 2 people went missing in that desert.

I've been watching these Lost Tapes shows on Animal Planet- they are obviously fictionalized, but does anyone know, are they even based on real events or pure fiction?

Considering the absence of Into the Unknown in even reruns, classic Animal-X suffering the same fate on Animal Planet, and how long that channel's new Animal-X program lasted, I have been feeling a void from the Discovery Channel lineup that MonsterQuest was filling, beyond some here and there specials. This gives me hope that the channels can really spark my interest fast again. I'm hopeful for now.

Hey Loren,
On a similar note. I am a life long Rhode Island resident and all of my life I have heard sporadic stories from friends, aquaintances and relatives about a local Man-Beast legend but haven't seen anything of it mentioned in crypto circles (tv, movies, internet). The stories that go around are of a man-like creature, white or grey in color, 6ft tall and about 300lbs that likes to inhabit the northern woods of the state or the southern swamp-lands of the state. Of course the local indian population have stories of this creature. Has there ever been any kind of investigation into these stories to your knowledge?

Sounds pretty good to me, I'm definitely going to set a reminder for that when I get home this evening. I personally think that Animal Planet does a great job with their programming. My wife loves to watch the Animal Cops and Animal Precinct shows, she wears those out, so this will be a nice break from the usual on AP. I'll also be glad when the entire season starts in '09, get even more of a break from her animal cop shows, lol. I need my own tv... Thanks for the info Loren.
