At first glance I said, “Photoshop.” Now, looking at it again, I still say, “Photoshop.” Nothing about the image smacks of realism to me. JMO.

Hi folks, I’ve lurked on this site for many years, first time post though. I work in the video games industry so this one is close to my heart. As per other folks’ comments, this one was passed off (although never confirmed as far as I know) as viral marketing

@Nominay: What do you mean “these days”? Trick photography was invented before photography itself. (Visit Rome and see the perspective illusions they had painted on the walls there, for instance.)

It’s naive to think a photo represents reality, when it is only the reflected light’s imprint on film.

You’re thinking of the Killzone games. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet gotten into the Resistance games. But as RWRidley’s link shows, the pictured creature does pretty closely resemble a specific type of alien in the Resistance games. And though Insomniac didn’t 100% confirm that they were behind it, they seem to have strongly hinted that they were. Good enough for me.

I don’t see how this is tied to Resistance 3, as that looks nothing like a Helghast. The only critter in gaming it resembles are the husks in Mass Effect, and it’s clearly not tied to that.

Hoax, clearly, blatantly photoshopped. But I don’t think it’s a viral for anything.
