I hope to realize that I was just making fun of the situation. Nobody in their right mind could have believed that was a real picture. It was a scary picture, so I had fun with it. For the record, I don’t even own any kind of pistol or rifle. When I go monster hunting, I take bear repellent. That way if I do happen to go on private property, I don’t get nailed with poaching. It is a neat picture and I look forward to seeing the movie this summer.

I find it disturbing that this sort viral media campaign is allowed to spiral through the internet without any stop-gaps explaining that it is a hoax.
When it first appeared on the web-site of Wildgame Innovations, there was no hint of intended deceit by the producers of this website. Perhaps they were also unaware. It’s yet to be seen.

But for the producers of the movie ‘Super 8′, they willingly went about to fool the general public into believing that this image was genuine.

While it might not be as damaging as the 1938 broadcast of the ‘The War Of The Worlds’ by Orson Welles, it could be just as terrifying to those individuals that are fooled to believe that it is genuine.

Loren, I've been looking into this from the mainstream viewpoint of a viral marketing campaign, and looked into Resistance 3 as well as Super 8. I'm still not buying the little girl video, although she probably is in Super 8. Keep up the good work sir.

I knew it was a hoax all the time. My wife told me that there is no such thing as the Boogeyman. To my family’s relief I have put the loaded handgun away, but I am still going to make sure every door in my house in locked including the closets. God I hope I don’t have nightmares tonight.

Insomniac Games (who are currently working on Resistance 3, which happens to have gameplay footage revealed tonight) might be behind it, offering a bit of allusion on their Twitter [posting]: "Whoops… looks like one got out. If you see a Grim on the loose… please return to Insomniac Games, Burbank, CA"
