I am of two minds on this.

The little one sort of sympathizes with scientists who really don't want to waste their time "saving" feral hybrids when there's so much else that needs saving.

The big one says: The first rule of intelligent tinkering is SAVE ALL THE PARTS.

This goes to show the importance of preserving the habitat, and protecting healthy populations, of all creatures. Sad to think that mankind could let another piece of our precious diversity slide away because of our arrogant insistence that we "know" what is and is not there (or should be there).

I am quite sure i saw the Kouprey in an exhbit at the AMNH in NY about 50+ yrs ago Bos sauveli was described by scientists in 1937, it was known as the Gray ox or Cambodian forest ox. Some time ago i had heard that there had been some dispute as to it`s biological identiy, I guess this will settle it , now let`s save this animal from extinction.
