Bigfoot Filmmaker’s Statement
Posted by: Loren Coleman on May 16th, 2008
John L. Johnsen, the filmmaker who has worked with M. K. Davis, noted he would be forwarding his thoughts. Moments ago, he sent along this statement for May 16, 2008:
As Mr. Coleman points out, there are times when the clock runs out on subjects. A preliminary answer from M.K. regarding this current controversy yielded some indication that he is NOT planning any mind blowing announcements as some earlier comments here have indicated. Yet it still leaves my participation up in the air. What I can say is, due to the gauntlet he was forced to run with the “human” findings, he is, understandably, being necessarily cautious on his current path. And, let the record show that I DO believe in the absolute humanity of the Patterson film subject. Homo sapiens? No, but some other sub species for certain.
About a year ago it became apparent to me, Davis and others in our loop that there was something much larger than met the eye going on in the film. Over the last year we have worked together with the evidence to a point where verification of the highest order was the only thing that could be done to solidify the theories on the table. My fear is that M.K. would prematurely release this info, leading to a second round of name calling and disrespect for a man very much dedicated to finding the truth in all of this.
It would disappoint me greatly if he would leave me out of the next step, but that is his choice, not mine alone. My involvement with cryptozoology as a film topic was strictly by chance. It was due to several phone calls from a certain “expedition leader” and a visit to an “expedition” that led me to my first film ‘Keeping the Watch’. It was my intent to show people in this genre for who they were, not as people on the lunatic fringe to be taken advantage of as main stream media delighted in portraying them. The “dollars for nothing” (my opinion) and comments from several disgruntled expedition members sealed the subject matter for me. I met Davis during the filming of Keeping the Watch and we agreed to work together to properly bring the human findings to light. The matter needed a level playing field, so I proposed a DVD release as the best method of disclosure, eliminating the degradation of on line files and the variables such as VHS and poor monitors that would wreck havoc on resolution. Unlike accusations by some (not on Cryptomundo) it was not a plan to get rich by withholding information. The film ‘Spotlight on the Patterson Gimlin Film’ sold poorly, as I surmised it would, and I have pulled it from sales pending the addition of the current information Davis is working on. If that project doesn’t materialize then it will likely not be re-released. So those of you that have the DVD have a collector’s item.
I wish I could move things forward at a faster pace. The reality is that Davis, unlike me, is not retired from making a living, has kids in college and doesn’t have the resources of time and funding I am blessed to have. So, things move at the pace they move at.
I will respond to all serious inquiries and comments here.
More to come.
Thanks to Loren for the forum.

I guess I don’t really get the point of this statement. It doesn’t tell us anything new and is extremely vague. Why bother?
And now, for something completely different…
I believe I was clear in my comment above. He (Davis) indicated that all he would be doing was honoring Patterson, not making any earth shattering announcements. And, that my involvement depends both on Davis’s decision to continue and what is truly revealed at the weekend conference. Cut and dried.
My post in the recent “race card in Bigfootry ” blog:
Is the theory being put forth that in north America there is a current situation that parrallels Europe at the time of the Neanderthals ( I like the old spelling) ?
Current blog:
“….let the record show that I DO believe in the absolute humanity of the Patterson film subject. Homo sapiens? No, but some other sub species for certain.”
Evidence will need to be very credible to support this theory. Looking forward to what happens next.
Too late. That film has been released now for 8 months or so. There was adequate evidence, in my opinion, to indicate that Patty was human and not pongid. I pulled the film from sales pending Davis’s decision as to re-release it with the stuff he is working on now…which is NOT anything concerning the humanity of Patty.
John Johnsen
John L. Johnsen, In your last comment you mentioned that in your opinion there is adequate evidence Patty is human. Are you saying that Patty is a human who has Hypertrichosis? A hair covered body except for the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.
Can you say anything more on what this new evidence is concerning?
In regard to the post about hypertrichosis the answer is a solid no. Patty is human. Not as in Homo sapiens, but surely of the genus Homo.
