Thanks guys, it sounds like this place is much nicer than I’m used to. While I am a YEC and maintain a particular point of view, I’m not here to press my beliefs on others, I’m just here to learn about cryptozoology even more and stay updated. Im always trying to find out more about these animals that have yet to be cataloged and I just want a place where I can do this without being attacked simply for being me and being logged into a site. Thank you all and I hope that soon we can come together and talk about some of these creatures being proved real.

Yes, I think you will find the level of discourse here at Cryptomundo is of a high quality. We have a very knowledgable community here from a wide range of backgrounds. The discussions are almost always about the topic at hand, and the commenters are on the whole respectful and civil in their discussions even when there is disagreement.

To be sure, there are some epic debates on here sometimes as you may be aware, but what strikes me as so unique about this site is that it is almost always stays related to offering views about the topic and almost never devolves into name calling or attacks. You can give your opinion and while it may be recieved critically or with disagreement, you have liitle to fear of getting roasted for what you have to say.

We are all here with the common goal of finding out what is going on.

I have seen very few sites with as many civil, rational, and overall informed discussions about cryptozoology as we have here at Cryptomundo. It is an excellent site bar none.

As a long time regular here and frequent contributor, I just wanted to throw that out there and welcome you on board

Hi all! New member and this site seems much better than the other one I’ve been on..And by nicer I mean the people are much nicer, open minded and generally seem much more logical..I’m here because I was tired of random attacks by people.

Yes CRYPTIDSRUS, that is exactly how skeptics would respond and its a sad sad thing..Just because someone doesn’t have say, 4 P.H.D.s, does not mean they have no credibility or the means to obtain and interpret evidence. Cryptozoology is all about finding evidence and seeing whether or not it gives credence to the existence of an unknown animal, there is a lot of evidence it’s just up to us to be open minded enough to see it as evidence.

DWA and Loren: The skeptics, to be honest, would actually say something like: “Who’s Ivan T. Sanderson??? Is he a credited Wildlife Biologist/Zoologist/Paleontologist???” Hate to say it, but it is the truth.

read both books… on thr track of unknown animals is better.
i think the best part of that book is the end, when heuvelmans says that he finds it bitter sweet to get the book published, because of what people will do when they discover them. who wouldn’t want to have a yeti fur coat or a mounted mokele em bem be on thier wall? its sad but true humans destroy everything they touch,

it would of been cool to meet both heuvelmans and sanderson…

It was re-published last year, with an new introduction by me. It has come out in a fine hardbound edition by Cosimo Classics (please click here) that avoided any of the mistaken deletions in a quick paperbound version that was reprinted from another publisher.

Well, Loren, you know what would happen if this got re-published.

The skeptics wouldn’t read it, and cut right to the “this is hooey.” (As Sanderson notes they so often do.)

But they’d have a nice-looking book on their shelves; and it being right there, they could claim they read it!
