FWIW, holding the wings in close to the body at some point of the flap cycle as shown in the Tanner photo is pretty characteristic of woodpeckers.  If a &quot;duck flap&quot; was presumed, I&#039;d guess it an incorrect presumption.

And if we&#039;re incorrect about that, there might be other things, like extinction, we don&#039;t have right either.]]></description>
