I think he should have told him after he went public at the bigfoot get-together. Being embarrassed is part of the purpose of a hoax. A person will be that much more skeptical if they risk embarrassment by going public with suspect evidence.

I think it’s part of the reason Crytomundo is a skeptical blog. BFRO would just delete any embarrassments that happen and ban people who bring it up.

If some moron wants to waste their time that way, fine. But as someone said there are risks - even if you are videotaping a hoax. (There are lots of people in the woods and you might not know they are there.)

Unfortunately hoaxes muddy the waters, and as there is a significant amount of credible evidence that something is out there - DNA/metals analysis of hair, gaussian distribution of footprint casts, recordings certified by experts, etc - hoaxes will just make it that much more difficult to uncover.

Ole Bud, I said in my comment that “live” hoaxings are idiotic and dangerous. Videotaped hoaxings, on the other hand, are only beneficial to everyone.
