Yup, too true. I showed inconsistencies in Richard Frere’s claim that he knew Lachlan Stuart’s photo was a staged hoax. However, debunkers were all too ready to excuse Frere’s contradictions because it suited their case.

Yet when witnesses to phenomema such as Nessie or Bigfoot slip up on their testimonies, believe me, the sceptics won’t tire to make mileage out of it.

Double standards?

This is a very timely article. With the recent outlandish claims of the camper tent video being proven a hoax. I think we need to include the skeptics who brand everything as fake as hoaxers themselves.
The strange part is when people who claim to believe in Cryptids denounce something as fake or a hoax on slim if any evidence. It does work both ways.
If it quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, swims like a duck and poops like a duck, then its probably a log or a hoax. (if the duck was a cryptid)

Thank you, Loren. I had been one of the “accepters” of the Surgeon’s photo being a hoax until I read your post. (Too many lies, told over and over…)

Goodfoot, about Nickell, I would take it one step further. He gets paid to “debunk,” not find the truth. That’s not science, that’s financed nihilism.

The same could be said for Frank Searle’s many photographs of the Loch Ness Monster, or Ivan Marx’s many films of Sasquatch, and what about Cliff Crook’s 1995 photographs that he purchased from an anonymous ranger?

My comments on deathbed confessions was in reference to alleged deathbed confessions in relation to the PG film in the original article.

They are weak and offer no supporting evidence. In this case, the alleged confessions were being used to try to debunk the PG film.

Well, Desertdweller, all you surmise about “deathbed confessions” may be true or not. But your statements are really not germane, are they? My entire point is that they didn’t happen, with regard to both of these situations I mention.
