A youtube video was just posted by Justin Smeja talking about shooting the goatman. Apparently he shot one of the baby goatmen as well. He said it looked like a guy in a costume but he shot anyway. He is planning to go back to look for some goatman steaks in the next few weeks for dna testing.

Even with the costume, it’s hard to see how a cautious hunter could mistake a guy (or gal!) on his hands and knees for a goat. That’s especially true if the hunter sees the lower part of the leg dragging along the ground, but also any movement will be decidedly un-goat-like. It’s a lot easier to imagine some hoaxer in a gorilla suit getting killed.

Alli kidding aside, when I adapted & directed a stage version of AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON here in Maine, we did research on making the most realistic wolf suit possible for an actor to wear (that was within a community theater budget). It was actually a little disturbing what we found.

There is an underground culture of people who are into dressing up like animals as a fetish. You may laugh but it is a lot bigger group than you would think. The more realist the animal suit the better. All categories of animals too. There are websites where people post pictures of themselves in costume acting like their chosen animal. They post videos on Youtube. They post tips on how to make a better costume. It goes beyond a sexual fetish, it’s like a being at one with nature thing.

Anyway our production team found out that these people make the best suits for the money. Based on all that it wouldn’t be that farfetched that this “goatman” falls into this category as someone who literally wants to be at one with goats.

If this person isn’t harming anyone or anything, then just let him be. There can’t be a law against dressing up like a goat.

In the first picture, the “thing” appears to be wearing a shoe on its right rear foot.

This looks to me like a very poor way to stalk goats (who detect predators by sense of smell) and a very good way to get yourself killed.
