My observation wasn't meant to insult or degrade the gathering. Just some constructive criticism. The POTUS speaks to the media in the White House back yard on occasion. So are we to call this a "Government Business BBQ"?

I stand by my previous comments.

The venue was a ranch, hence the name "roundup."

Proriter: Could I have a cite on where this confab was advertised as a "research" conference?

Oh. So this is what a "research" conference looks like. I've seen more academic credentials at a VFM hog roast.

As wonderful as this is I really think they could have come up with a better name. Bigfoot round up sounds like Clown Rodeo to me. No, I'm not saying that it's a clown rodeo but you get the idea. You don't exactly think of serious research, informative lectures or scientific presentations with such a name, I know I don't. Many will say it doesn't matter and the name is not the focus. I disagree and IMO the label you put on something is the first thing you see and the first impression you get. Especially with Americans who easily cast aspersions and make superficial assumptions.

Cryptozoologists, Bigfoot researchers, investigators, etc.. have struggled to gain credibility from the scientific community as well as the mainstream for years. Unfortunately, naming such a gathering Bigfoot Round Up doesn't help that credibility.

I certainly hope it was a rousing success in spite of the naming.
