Well thank you very much Loren, thanks for remembering my birthday. It's been a few years now since I last met you, I am glad that you still have such glowing fond memories. I know that we are connected up on facebook, but as you can see I hardly ever visit or use that at all. It was very much by chance that I came across this entry that you have made, and I was particularly moved to comment by the blogger called Glasgow boy's addition to your piece.

In my defense I will say that yes I do now have a very steady long term girlfriend, we actually had a civil marriage ceremony at the Rock Ness festival a few years back and consider ourselves to be married in our own way. She does have a house in town, and I do visit. She also has one of those "job" things and so works 9-5, so at the weekend it is very much her time, and as a result we are often off out and about doing all sorts of things, many of which are Loch Ness based.

I can pretty much guarantee that if the blogger had visited on a week day then he would have found me sat outside, or inside my van as you did.

My home is still very much my van, my passion is still to identify what has been seen at the loch, and my life is still mine to live freely doing the things that I love.

Many times over the years visitors have turned up at my van and said, "oh, I was told that you'd packed it in..." or whatever, and after having given these various reports some thought, I can draw only one conclusion.

When asked about a given subject to which the person does not know the precise answer, rather than say, "I don't know," often the person will hazard a guess and pass it off as fact.

I am sure that this is not just confined to questions about the movements of full-time monster hunters, but is true in many walks of life.

It would be good to see you again some time Loren, if you are looking for me most likely you will find me sat outside my van, just not at the weekends so much.

I hope that life is looking after you as well as it should.

All the very best, Steve Feltham.
