He was enthusiastic and I think at first desperate to prove that Nessie existed so faking things was a way of trying to prove to the world it/she/he did.

As Tony says, he wasn’t the only person prepared to resort to violence to protect his patch as it were. I think everyone wanted to be the ONE, to discover proof of Nessie and therefore everyone else was an intruder.

I still have fond memories of Frank despite everything and found he could be charming when he wanted to be, but abusive if you disagreed with him.

On another note of interest, Dan Taylor’s Viperfish submarine has been spruced up and is being used by a marine group to explore the sea bed at 200 feet. I think Dan would have been proud.

He was an interesting persona, though I never knew he had a penchant for “nastiness.” He is forever tied to the story of Loch NEss, however, for good or ill.

Other than that we have had some people who may be described as “somewhat strange” but the deliberately nasty are thankfully few and far between.

Interesting Loren, but this man threatened my life on two occasions and did irreparable harm to the image of the research groups.

He also threw a petrol bomb at an expedition base camp which narrowly missed a student sleeping on the beach.

This individual can never be remembered “favourably as a man” by those to whom he was violent and vindictive.

There are few people I have wished dead in my life, but Searle was one of them.
