I responded positively to an invitation from my old friend Brad Steiger to be on his Halloween special. This is the busiest time of you for me. I was not even sure what station or even what program it was linked to as I know Brad travels in many circles. Various people I happen to be on the same venue with often hold much different political views than I do. It’s called living in America.

Frankly, I do hundreds of radio shows a year, retain a large can of flea powder near my phone and have defense equipment against the more dangerous morning “zoo radio” shows that think that jokes about “alien anal probes” are appreciated by cryptozoologists. I’ve been on some really terrible programs, and Brad’s show last night showed superb respect for my work, thank you.

Bottomline with this interview: Friendship to me is extremely important.

Loren, I realize writers on paranormal subjects need to be able to sell their books, and that Jeff Rense’s website provides a vast audience who appreciate the paranormal.

But rense.com also hosts a vast collection of anti-semitic writings. Things like “The Strange, Mysterious Eternal Allure Of Adolf Hitler,” which he’s given a permanent front page link for years.

This Hitler-hugging article, which portrays Hitler as briliant but misunderstood, states sentiments such as Hitler’s hostile attitude to Jews was neither irrational nor aberrant. He simply saw the Jews as Jesus Christ did before him. Jesus said to the Jews: ‘You belong to your father, the devil and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. (John 8:44)

While it coyly attributes it to “Author Unkown,” when I first spotted it on his site years ago, the only other website offering the essay was that of the National Socialist Movement, in a website bedecked with swastikas. The National Socialist Movement calls itself “America’s Nazi Party,” and supports white supremacy.

Rense’s site is filled with this sort of hateful crap, and paranormal authors who appear on it enable him to thrive and to keep putting out this shrill, ugly rubbish.

The old saying, “When you lay down with dogs, you wake up with fleas” applies here.

Mothman has always fired up my imagination. It is such an intrigueing mythology of events and I always enjoy Loren’s thoughts on the matter when he blogs on the topic. One thing that I really find interesting about Mothman is the sheer mystery of it all, and that there seems to be no kind of consensus on WHAT IN THE WOLRD it actually is! It is a subject of endless fascinating speculation for me. By the way, Loren, sounds like a great book! I’ll be sure to check it out when it comes out.
