Just because wildlife officials continue to claim, "NO cougars have inhabited Delaware in more than 150 years", doesen't mean NO big cats are in the 1st state.
What it means is: officials refuse to acknowledge them....for there is NO shortage of excellent sightings or CONFIRMATIONS of sightings, especially in SW Kent County where in August 1999, an adult cougar (aka mountain lion, puma) was caught on video by a Burrsville, Delaware Farmer's wife, as the CONFIRMED cougar casually walked along the edge of a field 200 feet away.
As she filmed the "non-existant cougar", the farmer's wife is heard asking Delaware Wildlife Officer John Rutherford "if a tiger or lion was loose, since she is taping its movement".
Officer Rutherford & 3 other DNR officiers raced to the scene, but the "phantom cougar" was no-where in sight on arrival 23 minutes later. However its presence was 100% confirmed on videotape.
My wife Linda & I were called to the scene by Del. DNR Officers. After viewing & identifying the cat on tape, we were given a copy of it. The Delaware tape of a "non-existant cougar" remains the "centerpiece of 3 dozen+ videos or movie-film" sent to us by "shy" wildlife officials or professional witnesses since 1973.
Anyone with video or animal pictures needing proper identification, contact 304-749-7778 or epuma@hardynet.com or leave message on our NEW website: www.eprn.homestead.com
