My grandson spent a year in Iraq and I know one of the things he enjoyed receiving the most was reading material as it was in limited supply and they can read it and pass it on to someone else. Also, let's be realistic, eBooks require a special combination of factors for the soldier-readers, including a computer that works and is available, power (electricity is not always on in Iraq and Afghanistan), and a period of time in a continous stream. In a war zone or a hospital, it makes more sense to give military personnel a real book. Ebooks? I would have to buy them. It would end up being more expensive.
