Breaking: CHP Sighting of Monkey or Man-In-Monkey-Suit

The following is a scanner transcript noted on the California-based website rimoftheworld.net. It details a possible “monkey” or “man-in-monkey-suit” sighting. For those unfamiliar with “CHP,” it stands for the “California Highway Patrol.”
Big Bear Lake is a four seasons resort community surrounded by the San Bernardino National Forest, 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles. The distance between Devore, California, where Moe escaped, and this location, is about 50 miles across unforgiving terrain, forested areas, and through or around two other lakeside areas.
The transcript goes from the most recent to the oldest part of the interactions. I have retained it in the fashion in which they chronicle it.

11:18 a.m.: Moe remains on the loose

Moe the Chimp remains missing. On Sunday night, scanner reports reported on rimoftheworld.net described someone seeing a monkey, or, a man dressed in a monkey suit.
Despite the supposed sightings, Michael McCasland, a friend of the chimp’s owners who has been acting as their spokesman, discounted the report.
“If it’s something halfway credible, we would have already heard about it,” McCasland said this morning.
Moe has been missing since June 27 when he escaped from his cage at Jungle Exotics near Devore. — Rachel Vaughan

Wow, this is very similar to last year but they were in a gorilla suit.

Note, this area has some very wooded area and are off limits to the public. Good enough for a hairy animal with 2 legs.

Treacherous best describes the area around the housing communities down there. When they started to build up in the hills around Los Angeles (to the east) the environmentalists made the contractors set aside land for the purpose of planting “native plants”. Well, native to the hills of southern Cali is the kreasote bush (which is highly flammable). The bushes were put in so close and thick that even the deer couldn’t get thru. That’s why those fires down south are so dangerous. If that was the chimp, his only saving grace is his ability to climb. I do hope someone catches him.
