Hmm. Just one? Can’t do it. Best I can do is get down to four.

For unknown species I think we will discover: what Edward Rowe Snow called “His Majesty, the Sea Serpent.”
For possible rediscoveries, the thylacine (odds may be slim, but I don’t think they are zero, and so I hold out hope.)
For my personal quest: the giant fish of Lake Iliamna, the most interesting cryptid most people have never heard of.
And finally, for sheer, sentimental “I WANT it to be real” value: gotta be sasquatch. The Big Guy. The embodient of nature’s mysteries.

I’ve always loved stories about the Loch Ness monster and of course Bigfoot.

But now the things that really get my interest are Eastern Cougars (or the black panthers) and Ivory Bill Woodpeckers, creatures that aren’t supposed to be there but people see them regularly.

i was out in the jersey pine barrens looking for the jersey devil before i was 10. Now that I’m older i can read about all the other cryptids, but the jersey devil will still always have a special place in my heart :3

Like so many others I have a sentimental attachment to the cryptid, that got me interested in CZ in the first place, and in my case it all started with a childhood visit to Loch Ness, back in the late 60s, when the LNI was keeping watch all around the loch. So, Nessie all the way.

From there I have branched out to a general interest in lake monsters – they also seem to be the only type of cryptids we get in Scandinavia (though, alas, not in Denmark where I live). I also quite like the sasquatch, but when you live on the other side of the pond, you cannot feel quite as lively an interest as those who share a continent with the big boy.
