If he had been found further south I would speculate that he was waiting tables, going to auditions, and trying to shop a script around, but since he was so far north I’m going to go with the popular escapee theory.

The usual explanation for animals out of place is, “escaped or abandoned exotic pet”, and I’m going to go with that in this case.
