Boulder is considered an odd place, a bastion of quasi-socialist thought in a generally conservative state. Nicknames include PRB (the People's Republic of Boulder) and "28 square miles surrounded by reality."

As noted above, cougar attacks in that region are nothing new. Cow attacks.... no clue.

I don't think a mountain lion would really be cryptozoological in Boulder, Colorado, since they are confirmed as native wildlife currently living in that region.

The cyclist-charging cow in the same area is a weird coincidence, though.

Does anyone think to check the wild areas to see that the wildlife have enough to eat? Bears and cats coming out for dining purposes, they probably don't have enough to eat. Responsible animal husbandry would be seeing that the wild animals have enough in their areas to eat. Stocking the forest with all kinds of goodies for the wildlife for their survival. If we don't take care of the wildlife, Who will? It is up to us, we are a part of all of this.

Being born and raised on a farm. I have seen first hand what happens when you come between Mother and Calf. My mother was nearly trampled to death by one of our cows trying to save a dying calf. Bulls can be just as dangerous.

Any creature, whether carnivore or herbivore that outmasses you by hundreds of pounds is dangerous.

Yeah, any animal that big is capable of dishing out deadly levels of damage.

As for the puma eating the dog . . . that's one reason I don't let my pets go out unsupervised. I live in the suburbs now, but there's a sizeable amount of wildlife in the area, and even relatively small fry like foxes or raccoons kill pets. I wonder if the puma will turn out to be old or injured, or if dog-devouring is just the next step up from rooting in garbage cans?
