I guess Bushnell forgets there is still gun toting sasquatch hunters out there and many of them believe the same thing as me, we need a body. Lets just hope its not a human body that gets shot for “proof”. Just think about the poor guy who actually shoots one of these so called “sasquatch”. Can you say jail time? Your a let down Bushnell and I’m never buying a Bushnell camera or scope ever again! The contest was much more legit before whoever in your big office came up with the idea to let hoaxers in on the prize money. Idiots!

I too hope that anyone who takes part in a staged photo does not get hurt; or otherwise sets up a hoax using costumes, that they use great precautions. I don’t want to see anyone get hurt or killed by a hunters bullet or weary property owner.

the kendall-martin photo is clearly a deer’s face moving upward or downard. the “hair” is just the blur from the motion. the “arm”-ish looking thing is an eye.

On reading Ole Bub’s post and on visiting the Bushnell site, I have to revise my opinion.

Ole Bub’s right. That little feature of the contest IS corporate irresponsibility at the most extreme I’ve seen it – that is, up front and in public – lately. To name just a few possibilities: (1) gross wastage of money and time (same thing) better spent elsewhere; (2) potential lawsuits – to say nothing of manslaughter and murder; (3) …..

…..and wait for this one, ’cause boy was I wrong….

(3) setting the cause of sas research back yet ANOTHER fifty years.

They’re making it a joke, which could not inconceivably get someone hurt. Badly. Count on this: the heirs and assigns of anyone getting shot going after that “gyp us” prize will sue …and for much more than the $1 million. With a vastly better chance of getting it.

Was this how Bushnell wanted to go out of business?

Where WAS their legal department? Resting up for the claims?

No problem, Bushies. Pro bono. Think nothing of it.

But the joke’s on you, ’cause I just proved we’re a WHOLE lot smarter than your lawyers.

I see a big dif between the Kendall/Martin trailcam photo and the blur examples.

The former looks like hair; the latter like blur.

Not saying what kind of animal it is in the former. (Heck, could be a woman’s head, viewed from slightly behind and to the right.) But it looks like hair.

I don’t think Bushnell will have to worry about paying out that money. Just how will that photo be “verifiable”?

Says here it can’t be. Followup might produce proof. But boy is there a devil in THOSE details.

On thinking about it, though, I suppose we owe Bushnell a debt of gratitude. I guess it is lending some mainstream legitimacy to the pursuit, which can only be to the good.

(And I still don’t think it is verifiable what the Jacobs photos are.)

I must admit, it’s a great ploy by Bushnell to sell more of their product. However, I’m sure there are some out there already planning hoaxes of sorts. I hope to see some of the images submitted or selected for review, should be quite interesting.
