Well, if there ever was anything there it's probably gone now. I imagine if the locals have been flooding the area then the Yetis have probably packed up and moved on.

''The Russian Academy of Sciences, however, is skeptical of Burtsev’s enthusiasm. To preserve a stable population, there would have to be many Yetis, but only single creatures have so far been spotted, an anthropologist of the Academy, Sergei Vasilyev, told RIA Novosti, according to the MosNews.''

The report actually writes of sightings of ''creatures'', in the plural. But even if one assumes the report is not quite correct and there was only one sighting or a very few which might suggest a single creature. That's all that would be needed! Probably at some point there would have been a stable and maybe considerable population but probably (IMO) there isn't now. There are too many guns, too many human diseases, too much poison and too much loss of prime habitat.

My own opinion is that there is a decreasing relic population of unknown manimals. I hope I am wrong about this. Reminds me of the declining years of the Yahi and the very last Yahi, Ishi. (Though these were of course 100% homo Sapien).

I am hopeful of some good evidence coming out of this vast area in due course and wish Igor Bourtsev success in his researches.
