Greetings All!
While the side-by-side of the moose and Caddy is interesting. However, the drawing reminds me of the carcass that was pulled out of a whale's stomach (I think). That was definitely NOT a moose! I presume (yeah, I know) the model (on a stick!) was made from a fossil basis, and should be more accurate as to what a cadborosaurus would look like. Again, not a moose.

A cadborosaurus bit my sister once...

Moose also dive and can hold their breath for quite a while. The first time I saw a moose eating off the bottom of a lake in about 15 20 ft of water, I was dumbfounded. However, it didn't take but a moment or two to realize that this was a moose, and I never thought serpentine or reptilian at all.
Does look like the drawing...

Since moving to Kelso, Wa., I've seen my share of river otters; and I THINK they were all river otters.

The otters that I've seen on numerous occasions in the Coweeman River, which is a tributary of the Cowlitz River [which is in turn a tributary of the Columbia], seem to be smaller than ones I've seen on the Columbia. In fact, when I was strolling along the shore of the Columbia at Rainier, Or. with my wife (Rainier is across the river from Kelso, some 80 miles east of the ocean) I actually became somewhat concerned because a large otter that was swimming around a pier swam very close to the shore where my wife was standing. This thing had a big head, bigger than any that Ive seen in the Coweeman. Im probably off base here, since a 30 pound otter would be a good sized critter; but could a sea otter have wandered that far up the Columbia? Were they known to do so when they were plentiful?

Yeah, and now the important question to me is: how many sea monster reports were there in light of all of these otter sightings?

Didn't really hear of otters being mistaken for Caddy, now did we? So, the debunker theory that lake and ocean cryptids are just otters being mistaken for monsters does not hold much water.

I would hope any official of the ocean and our water ways would at least investigate any reports. There has been so many animals that have wandered away from their normal habitat that, for me, any reports of a marine animal out of place, I can't help but take it seriously. I live near Sacramento, California, and we have had at least 2 large whales swim up the Sacramento river. These are salt water/ocean creatures swimming in fresh water. I heard of a great white shark that made its way to an inland lake in Texas. By the time it was discovered it was reenacting Jaws. It is amazing where marine life can go with just a little bit of water around them.
