This has always been another iconic cryptid for me, just like the Augustine monster and others. It defies enough of the zoological record that I'm not sure what to think. Maybe a chimera of sorts--some critter not on the fossil grid that has an odd head that most resembles a horse? Red wings? Who knows...and mules' hooves...again...

I've always liked this one too. :) Haven't gotten to West Virginia or the Pine Barrens to investigate yet, but it's on my list.
