I’m surprised it wasn’t also/somehow tied into the Snallygaster sightings of the previous year. Especially considering the year of this report, the general area it was supposedly seen in, its alleged mountain habitat, and that it was reported from Hagerstown.

It defies enough of the zoological record that I’m not sure what to think. Maybe a chimera of sorts–some critter not on the fossil grid that has an odd head that most resembles a horse? Red wings? Who knows…and mules’ hooves…again…

I’ve always liked this one too. :) Haven’t gotten to West Virginia or the Pine Barrens to investigate yet, but it’s on my list.
