Westcoast Sasquatch Team Investigates Site of BC’s First Sasquatch Vocalizations.

Following the announcement that what may well be British Columbia’s first sasquatch vocalizations have been recorded, members of the Westcoast Sasquatch team carried out an onsite investigation of the locale where the sounds were recorded.
The team comprised Thomas Steenburg, Gerry Matthews, Ken Kristian, Seb Wang and John Kirk who braved pouring rain to search the area for any clues that might indicate a sasquatch could have been in the area. Arriving on the scene the team stopped at the approximate spot where the creature began its high pitch screaming each time it ventured into the area. We have it from the informants that the creature made the vocalizations twice in January 2005 and twice in February 2005. There was then a period no vocalizations until December 21, 2005. The sounds then reappeared and were as loud and frightening as before.
British Columbia, and the Fraser Valley in particular, has been inundated by constant rain for over a month-and-a-half so any hopes of finding tracks was pretty much a washout. There were a number of interesting depressions in an area between where the vocalizations were made and where the informants live. They seemed like large footprints set apart by a very long stride, but so, much detail had been eroded by the rain that it is not possible to say with any certainty that these were possible sasquatch tracks.
What really took the breath away from the investigators was the distance between the house where the video camera used to record the vocalizations and the treeline from where the screams originated. The distance was approximately 320 metres and yet the screams in the recording can be heard very well thus indicating that whatever made these cries had some considerable lung power. A search was conducted all the way down from the road in the area to the Chehalis Flats on the Harrison river, but no sign of any sasquatch-related activity was found.
Seb Wang and John Kirk decided to follow the road down toward an area where a number of sightings have taken place and where another scream was heard. The area was pretty much deserted with weekend outdoors people seeming to choose to stay at home because of the downpour and poor lighting conditions and not availing themselves the use of some great local areas for camping and fishing. It was amusing to see a signboard erected by a local First Nations group which depicted a sasquatch in this its assumed habitat.
The search area is very relatively close to Deroche where a number of vocalizations have been heard in recent years including two incidents where a group of eleven teenagers were reduced to tears by the presence of a large creature in the bus which made an infernal racket and then began screaming at the top of its lungs. A second group of three teenagers including Ken Kristian’s daughter also heard the blood-curdling screams. When Ken investigated that site, he discovered a 16 inch foot print which had partially stepped on an ant hill. A third earwitness in lower Deroche near Highway 7 also heard the vocalizations coming from the hillside near her house and is now co-operating with Westcoast Sasquatch by keeping her ears open for any further activity.
