Again, we’re not talking a major CIA/NSA/President/Cabinet/Group of Seven/Team of Six/Black Cross Society top-level coverup.

We’re just talking land management people, not sure what they have here except that as far as science is concerned it isn’t real, trying to deflect a lot of what they feel is very problematical attention, whether they think the phenomenon real themselves or not.

There are perfectly good reasons, from a strict land-management standpoint, to deflect that attention when it can be easily done, which in this case it can be.

Im not suprised. I recently made a trip to mt rainier to the paradise area. Me and my father arrived to fresh snow and realized after hiking through ice that noone else had been around that day. No footprints besides ours, a few bear and deer. We then stubled upon a massive footprint, and a smell i cant describe and that i had never encountered. we photographed all the prints ( including the bear and deer) so that we could compare later. We overheard a park ranger discussing bigfoot with his friend and confronted him with the pictures. He found it better to ignore us and walk away, refusing to talk to us about it. It makes sense in a way. Alot of people die up there each year from getting lost and what not. Imagine what they see spending every day of the year up there in those woods. Now imagine having hundreds of people scouring the woods looking for a bigfoot. Destroying wildlife and getting hurt and lost. Im not saying it’s right to ignore the fact to the public, but in a way i can understand why they do it.

There’s nothing inherently implausible about this.

And as Spinach Village noted, this isn’t like CIA leaks, which the public considers inherently plausible (despite almost none of them having seen as much evidence for the typical CIA leak as they’ve seen for Bigfoot).

There’s nothing surprising about land management agencies trying to keep headaches from happening. And this would be one massive headache.

It’s common knowledge in the woods that the forestry will do whatever they can to keep people away from known Bigfoot evidence. it’s only a cover up to people who think of it that way. To all of us here in the woods it’s just policy. :/

I don’t think the impact would be that devastating to logging industry. It would be done in stages.

Once found and proven… Operations would be funded be the Government and managed by Environmental.

They would give themselves 12-18 months to hunt down and take into captivity every Sasquatch that they could possibly find. This would be done nationwide. A preserve or sanctuary would be created and it would most likely be strictly for them.

There diets would be studied and whatever is needed will be supplied. Vegetation would be plentiful and other forms of wildlife would be imported and set loose for them to hunt.

I use to think that the Bigfoot phenomenon was suppressed by the Government. Theses days I don’t know.

Can you name any politician that wouldn’t embrace an unprecedented distraction for the nation. Especially with the way things are today.

This all makes me think of the story of the 2 sasquatch bodies supposedly collected from the devastation following the Mt. St. Helens eruption in 1980, and (so the story goes) removed by helicopter along with other charred carcasses for burning supervised by National Guard personnel: I keep on thinking that someone who lives in Washington State should try to get to the bottom of this. If it's true, there must be a load of retired forest service employees, National Guardsmen, and employees of firms contracted to provide support that would be eager to go on record. The important criterion would be witnesses who are (i) still alive, and (ii) retired, thus free to spill the beans. If this story was true and came out, it would really change everything. It would also be a great journalistic coup!

There’s enough to worry about in the field of Bigfoot research without adding X-Files government conspiracies.

When you take into account the sheer amount of people presumably involved across multiple states and many years, it’s really unlikely there’s a cover-up. As thegsmiths4 pointed out “Human nature makes it impossible.”

Would make for a great novel however.

the enviro-nazi’s would be bringing up some kind of civil rights issue. so not only loggers would be put out of the forest but also i believe everyday people would be locked out also! it would mean bye bye camping, atv, and anything else fun to do in the woods. thank god for their cover-up! for once anyway!

I am not going comment on the veracity of the story, but rather the propensity of government agencies to prevaricate and in some case lie. Look at the recent UARS satellite crash. The satellite was the size of a school bus, but NASA stated it had no idea where or when it would enter the Earth’s atmosphere. Both NASA and the USAF claim to have the ability to monitor lunch box sized debris hundreds of miles up in orbit, but they supposedly could not track an object as huge as UARS. Worse, when reports by eyewitnesses started coming in, NASA rejected them all, leading to the question: if you don’t know where it is, how can you dismiss people who claimed to have seen something?
