A question for those who know Byrne: Does he still have the pieces taken from the "yeti hand" sample, and why have scientific test results never been published?

Regards, Matt Bille

Peter Byrne has always been a hero of mine and what a fantastic article!

That look in the animal's eye is just the reason I gave up hunting.

There is just not enough beauty left in the world, who are we to take any of it away?

I'll always have a soft spot for Peter Byrne. By the time I got interested in Bigfoot he had already turned away from hunting and was doing Bigfoot full time. He was the Great White Hunter Who Didn't Hunt, who advocated a gentle approach to Bigfoot. Peter in his khakis and ascot. He was articulate, worldly, and could tell a good story. The stories about him and Dahinden feuding are hysterical.

I never met PB personally but I did hang out at the Bigfoot Research Project headquarters one afternoon about ten years ago. The phone would ring every five minutes with some crank caller reporting Bigfoot. I don't know how Deborah could stand it.

Peter actually called me a few years later when he heard Robert Morgan had approached me. I had been out the night before and it was a Sunday morning. My head was pounding, the phone rang, and there was that voice. I was in my mid-twenties, but he had been a legendary figure in my life since I was in elementary school. It was like talking to Spider Man. I told Rene Dahinden the same thing when I met him.

Coincidentally, I just picked up a hardcover copy of PB's book on Bigfoot this afternoon at a rare book bookstore. I had never seen it in hardcover before. Maybe it's worth something.

Larry Lund...that's another blast from the past. I liked Larry a lot. His daughter R. is very pretty; I felt like a goofball being introduced as one of her father's bigfoot guys, but she was probably used to it.
